A blue-black background with dark green shrubbery around the sides and bottom. Lime-yellow glowing spots speckle the picture.

The last two poems were relatively easy to actually write as some ideas came to me in the days before and I was able to mentally develop them before putting pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard as the case may be. Today? Nothing much in the works.

I did have a thought that I’ve not done much sci-fi or fantasy in a poetry realm. However, it’s currently 9 pm and while that technically means I have 12 hours to write a poem, sorry, y’all aren’t a professor who’s got me on a deadline so I’m not pulling an all-nighter for you.

Does that mean we’re in for a haiku again? Or maybe I’ll try another limerick. What’s today’s Inktober anyway?

Ooo, firefly. That feels promising.

Firefly

A dancing light speck
Hovers in the twilight air
Bug science makes light

Chocolate

I wanted a chocolatey treat.
I asked him “Bring home something sweet.”
Little did I know this guy
Would go out and try
To bring more than a month’s worth of eats.

Dedicated to my husband who took a Costco jaunt and found a box of chocolate/cookies that literally stands more than half my height. They’re very tasty and I’m going to try to make them last at least a month.

  1. Fireflies are some of the most beautiful beings in this planet, IMHO. I like how your poem catches the beauty and the science.

And CHOCOLATE! The big box sounds yummy!
